"Pierre la Rock" is a unique documentary short with an equally unique story behind the scenes. Peter Gerretsen set out to make a feature-length autobiographical documentary about his life as a Dutch immigrant who fled post-WWII Europe and tried to make it as a filmmaker, but when he tragically passed away from cancer, his daughter, Mary, a filmmaker following in his footsteps, decided to finish a version of the film on her own. What resulted is not only an intimate portrait of a Dutch-Canadian filmmaker, teacher, and family man, but a tribute to a father lost far too soon.
